Why “Hours of Coverage” Isn’t the Same as “Story Coverage”

Couples often compare media packages by the easiest number to grab: hours.
Totally fair. But here’s the catch:

Hours tell you how long we’re there.
Story coverage tells you what you’re getting.

Story coverage is about what’s captured

Two teams can both shoot 8 hours.  One delivers a film that feels alive. One delivers a montage of pretty clips.

The difference is in story coverage. It's not about how many hours we are there for; it's how we craft the narrative in your film. It's about how we capture the shots to show emotion. It's about how you feel watching your video when all is said and done. 

What great story coverage includes

Moments between moments

• the shaky laugh before vows

• your friends hyping you up

• your partner’s face when you aren’t looking

• the exhale after the kiss

Reaction coverage
We’re not just filming you,  we’re filming your people loving you. We're capturing grandma's smile when she sees you come down the aisle. We're capturing your mischievous niece living it up on the dance floor. We're capturing your dad's tears as he walks you down the aisle. It's not just about a check box of a moment; it's the emotion you and your loved ones are feeling. 

Natural audio
A story lives in voices. Audio is one of the biggest things that separates video from a photo. Getting to hear the parts of your day is a vivid way to re-live some of the most precious moments.  This can include parts of your day like: 

• vows

• speeches

• little candid sound bites

• ambient crowd energy

Intentional pacing
A story has a rhythm. There's a natural rise and fall to a well-made wedding video that tells the story of your day as it unfolded. That comes from filming enough to let moments breathe, not just checking boxes. Our goal isn't to rush through footage, but to let each shot have it's moment. 

How to spot story-first filmmakers

Ask:

• “How do you create a narrative when making a film?"

• “How do you approach capturing candid moments?”

• “What’s your plan for the ceremony + toast audio?”

• “What matters most to you in a wedding story?”

Listen for answers about people and emotion, not just gear and angles. 

Bottom line:
Hours matter, but story coverage is what you’ll feel later.
