The Best & Worst Things We've Seen as a Wedding Vendor Part 2

Superhero Groom: After the groom finished getting ready, I went back to my car. It wouldn't start, so I went back inside to find some help. The groom himself very kindly insisted on helping me jump my car and even went and moved his own car to use it to jump mine. The photographer got it all on camera and now I have a photo of him and I that reminds me of how good people really are!

 

Dancefloor misfortune: At one wedding at the end of the dance time a woman dramatically fell on the dancefloor with a bang. We opted to edit the fall out of the film as it was hard to watch, but the couple specifically asked for it to be included as they thought it was funny.

 

What's your name? At the very first wedding I worked on, the sister giving the maid of honor toast forgot the groom's name and called him something else. I didn't think it boded well for the partnership, but who am I to say

 

Garter toss gone wrong: On more than one occasion I've seen something goes wrong with the flower or bouqet toss. Everything from it getting stuck in the chandelier, hitting the ceiling fan, ladies falling over trying to catch a bouquet and even a garter landing on a guests plate of food. Throwing garters and bouquets is harder than it sounds!

 

Don't Insult Guests: In one wedding the groom was giving the thank you speech and said "there's three things we wanted when planning this wedding. Good food, good wine, good people. We've got 2/3, I don't know about the good people yet" -- everyone started booing him and he was like "guys, come on, it's not fun if it's not controversial"

 

Not a Dry Eye: One of the best things I've seen was a touching tribute to a lost family member. At a wedding we did a while back, the bride's mother had sadly passed away right before the wedding. During the reception the father of the bride took the microphone and pulled out a wedding gift from the mother saying "this was from your mother. She wanted you to have it on your wedding day." It was such an incredibly beautiful and emotional moment that had everyone in the room crying!
