What Wedding Parties Can Do to Help Your Media Team Succeed

Small behaviors = big impact on your final photos and film.

Your wedding party wants to help. They just don’t know how unless you tell them.

Here are simple things they can do that make a huge difference.

1. Be where you’re supposed to be, when you’re supposed to be there

Nothing slows portraits like missing people.

Tell everyone:

  • ceremony lineup time

  • portrait start time

  • “phones away” moments

  • reception entrance timing

2. Don’t wander off right after the ceremony

This is when group photos happen.
Not when you’re already hunting for mini crab cakes.

3. Keep phones out of hands during key moments

Especially:

  • first look

  • ceremony

  • speeches

  • first dances

Phones in pockets = clean emotion shots.

4. Follow the photo/video lead quickly

When your media team says:
“Okay, let’s do couple with bridesmaids!”

The best response is:
“Yep!”
Not:
“Wait I need a drink first.”

5. Help keep couple energy up

A hype wedding party changes the whole vibe.

Encourage:

  • laughter

  • movement

  • cheering

  • natural interaction

Those are the shots that feel alive.

6. If you’re holding stuff, hide it

Bouquets, jackets, cups, sunglasses — they sneak into every frame.

Quick fix:

  • stash them behind you

  • hand them to a wrangler

  • put them on a chair 10 feet away

7. Remind people to smile at the couple

Not at their phones. Not at the crowd.
At the humans getting married.

It reads instantly in both photos and film.

Pro tip: Share this list with your party in a group text a week before.
They’ll appreciate knowing what helps.
