When I asked you all about the worst wedding advice you'd ever received, you shared some DOOSEYS! I couldn't believe the things some of you have been told. Here are just a few of the things you shared, and my responses to each one!
"Just DIY it "
This is the epitome of bad advice. Unless you are an expert in a certain area, don't use your wedding as an opportunity to try out a new undeveloped skillset. DIY'ing gets a rep as being a cheaper option, but often when someone who doesn't know what they're doing tries to do something like bake a wedding cake, or make their own bouquet, it costs them far more in time and in wasted product, not to mention the headache and stress. Leave the wedding items to the professionals.
"Invite all or no one"
We've all heard this advice, generally from older relatives. If you invite 1 person from a friend group, then you have to invite all 10. Or if you invite 1 distant family member, you have to invite the WHOLE extended family. Above all remember that this is YOUR wedding and you do not have to invite anyone you don't want there. If you are only close to 1 friend out of an old friend group of 12, just invite the 1. You have to pay big bucks for every guest at your wedding, so make your money count by only inviting people you actually want there.
"We don't need a detailed timeline, we're go with the flow people"
This is the all-time top worst advice we've ever heard. While we can appreciate a couple that doesn't want to stress on their wedding day, the fact of the matter is there are a LOT of details that go into a day, and if only for the sake of your wedding vendors, you need a timeline to keep everything flowing.
"Guests don't need a seating chart"
Yes, yes they do. I know it can seem like a lot of work to create a seating chart, and it is. However, it is also the thing that sets your guests up for success! Nothing kills a mood faster than sitting next to someone you have nothing in common with for 4 hours. On the flip side, being at an awesome table full of fun people makes the day just that much better! Plus, then you can guarantee that every seat is filled, and no table is left with 1 or 2 chairs unused, while a family of 4 can't find seats together.
