The Best & Worst Things We've Seen as a Wedding Vendor Part 1

The Best & Worst Things We've Seen as a Wedding Vendor Part 1
After 10+ years in the wedding industry, we've seen it ALL. Days gone wrong, and unique shining stars who keep the ball rolling no matter what. We asked our team for the best or worst things they've seen, and their responses didn't disappoint!

FIRE! At one wedding, the father of the bride was in a super impassioned part of his speech to his daughter when a very large spider ran up his tie. He understandably kind of freaked out and ended up knocking over the microphone. After that dramatic experience, the poor guy recovered and proceeded with his speech. A minute later he moved to the 2nd page of his speech and turned to the side to place the first piece of paper on the cake table. He accidentally placed it on a lit candle, which ended up lighting the wedding cake on fire. It was a memorable speech for sure!

Comedian Attempt: It's important to practice your speech before you present it to a crowd of guests. At one wedding, a bridesmaid opened her speech with a joke that did NOT land. She said “I am the bride’s sister. I’m also the more attractive one.” No one laughed, and there were some audible gasps in the room. Jokes are great in a speech, but you have to know when it's too much.

Summer Heat: At one summer wedding, a 14-year-old groomsman fainted right in the middle of the ceremony from heat exhaustion. It was scary for guests, and hard to watch on film!  definitely important to keep everyone hydrated in those June and July weddings!

Style vs Comfort: I had two brides HATE their dresses on the big day! They were constantly pulling up the bodice, tripping over their trains, or just fixing straps and such every time they moved. The poor brides were just constantly annoyed and for the videographer and photographer, it was hard to get a shot where they were not in the process of adjusting their dresses!

Drunk Guests: Last fall as I was leaving a venue and I saw a group of people from a different wedding crowded around in a group. There were 2 wedding receptions happening in the same venue so I didn't think about it. Turns out, two drunk wedding guests were fist-fighting in the parking lot. Thank goodness it was from another wedding!

Stay tuned for part 2 of the best and worst moments!
